ONCIMS is a state of art Integrated Oncology Information Management Platform for cancer management in resource constrained settings developed by Digital Health Center of Global Auto Systems LTD Uganda.
ONCIMS is a modular platform that can be used for:
ONCIMS provides customizable electronic health records management for digital oncology workflow including patient registration using standard health forms, clerking, Automated risk factors assessment, Diagnosis, clinical visits management, Admissions, Prescriptions, Referrals, Transfers, Appointments and Billing. Our electronic health records manager provides access to over 50 HMIS form Reports; high graphical reports and data driven insights for health care facility management and clinical decision support.
Unlike several patient’s information management systems with limited capability to offer a full digital oncology workflow; and the available ones which are costly for use in resource constrained areas; ONCIMS delivers a complete digital oncology workflow including automated cancer diagnosis and staging based on the AJCC Cancer Staging Handbook and protocol management including drugs management and patients adverse event monitoring as response to different treatment options.
ONCIMS supports clinical, administrative and tumor board meetings by ensuring earlier preparations across cases facilitating interactions among oncologists, physicians, and documenting what has been discussed and the outcome of each case review. The data captured from the discussions including the psychosocial, comorbidities, and biomedical aspects of each case are stored for future reference and as training materials for junior physicians.
ONCIMS is an ideal tool for remote case discussion. The tool was primarily designed as an assessment tool and involves the formal discussion of a patient's case followed by feedback and scoring using a structured assessment form.
The tool can however also be used in teaching and learning oncology as a teaching aid.
ONCIMS has been developed to provide both the manual and automated support for pap-smear image analysis with plans of extension for digitization and automated analysis of other samples including Biopsy.
Pap-smear is the commonest technique used for early screening and diagnosis of cervical cancer. However, the manual analysis of the pap-smears is error prone due to human mistake, moreover, the process is tedious and time-consuming. Hence, it is beneficial to develop a computer-assisted diagnosis tool to make the pap-smear test more accurate and reliable. ONCIMS supports the automated diagnosis and classification of cervical cancer from pap-smear images.
Microscopic analysis of the pap-smears remains one of the common approaches for cervical cancer diagnosis in low middle-income countries. However, the available digital microscopes are expensive with limited impact in low- and middle-income countries. The available low-cost microscopes provide low resolution images providing limited details of cells on the smear which require experts to offer the diagnosis.
This leads to late diagnosis and mis-diagnosis of cervical cancer. These microscopes also offer no capability of digitizing the slides for remote diagnosis (telemedicine) or latter analysis. We have developed a low-cost microscope slide scanner for digitalizing pap smears and a tool for automated analysis of the pap-smears.
